Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders affecting children, adolescents, and their families. Being a Child Psychiatrist may need to act as an advocate for the best interests of the patient. Prescribes medication when necessary. In addition, Child Psychiatrist requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. May report to a medical director.
