Job Summary:

The Director of Volunteer Services reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position has responsibility for oversight of all volunteer programs and staff in the Maxine Myers Volunteer Services Department including the RSVP Program Manager, the SHIP Coordinator, and two Volunteer Services Coordinators. Additionally, they serve as the agency representative to coordinate JFS involvement in broader community volunteer and/or outreach efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Direct oversight of JFS volunteer services staff that administer volunteer programs, including, but not limited to:

Friendly Visiting

Tessie’s Touch

Holiday Meal/Care Package Delivery

Listen to Children

Reading Buddies

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

Shop and Drop

Caregiver Respite Program

• Direct administration of JFS volunteer programs, including, but not limited to:

RSVP Center of Essex & Hudson Counties

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Volunteer Programs

• Direct oversight of JFS volunteer involvement with community agencies
• Collaborate with the Grants Manager to write, track performance, and meet all standards of grants, including, but not limited to:

AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers (MIPPA)

Morris County Division on Aging funding for Tessie’s Touch

Essex County Division on Aging funding for Friendly Visiting

Private donor funding for Tessie’s Touch

• Create and execute budgets for all grants/funding within the department. Reviews federal, state, and local financial reports before submission.
• Work with the Associate Director of Marketing to create and execute marketing for all volunteer service department programs.
• Organize annual volunteer appreciation events and volunteer service days.
• Maintain program policies & procedures in compliance with federal regulations surrounding national service and other funders
• Responsible for all communications to volunteers and nonprofit partners including newsletters, volunteer and client stories, social media, videos, articles, etc.

Related Administrative Responsibilities:

• Direct recruitment, training, placement, monitoring and recognition efforts for agency volunteers.
• Maintain all volunteer files and all volunteer program files in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Furnish them upon request during audits and site monitoring.
• Assess and make referrals for volunteer services clients that are in crisis.
• Maintenance of a volunteer tracking systems.
• Act as the liaison for the JFSMW Volunteer Services Advisory Council.
• Coordinate background and reference check process for prospective volunteers. Review and make decisions based on background check results.
• Mitigate risks for volunteers serving in the community and clients receiving services.
• Coordinate the placement of volunteers with agency clients and facilitate problem solving and client and/or volunteer advocacy efforts as needed, with coordinating support from agency social work staff.
• Work with staff to develop new volunteer opportunities in response to community needs as they emerge.
• Conduct Annual Volunteer Satisfaction Survey.

Qualifications:

• LSW or LCSW, required
• 2 years experience working in Volunteer Services or Program Management 
• Experience working with an older adult population 
• Staff supervision experience, preferred
