Top Litigation Executive oversees all litigation related to an organization and ensures maximum protection of the organization's legal rights. Acts as a liaison between outside attorneys and in-house staff. Being a Top Litigation Executive directs cases through litigation cycle, reviews new files for coverage and liability issues, and develops a cost effective defense strategy. Consults with senior management to resolve issues and decide settlements. Additionally, Top Litigation Executive requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Top Litigation Executive manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Top Litigation Executive typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. - Conducting mediations, expert and lay witness depositions, and representing clients in hearings
- Drafting and negotiating restructuring documents, DIP financing agreements, and forbearance agreements
- Negotiating and preparing settlement agreements
- Candidates must be a member in good standing or eligible to waive into the Illinois Bar
- Impressive academic credentials
- The ability to simultaneously negotiate and manage multiple cases and competing work demands
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, oral communication, research, writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills
- Superior negotiating skills
- Strong advocacy and motions practice skills
- An understanding of business, industry, and market issues
- Availability to work during non-standard hours and to work long hours when necessary
