Warner Petroleum Corporation has been serving the commercial marine fleet, industrial, and governmental agencies throughout the Midwest for more than 45 years from our two bulk liquid storage terminal locations in Detroit and Dearborn, Michigan.
The vertically integrated operations of the WPC Group include marine petroleum and bulk fuel storage terminals in Detroit (Detroit River) and Dearborn (Rouge River) in Michigan, and in Burns Harbor, Indiana (Lake Michigan). Together, these facilities form the Waterfront Petroleum Terminal Company.
WPC’s other businesses include marine transportation operations with tugboats and fueling barges in Detroit and East Chicago, Indiana, as well as truck and rail transportation and bulk cargo dock and material handling services. Additionally, throughout all methods of transportation and storage, Waterfront Petroleum Terminal Company blends and markets various asphalt grades into the paving, roofing, and industrial coatings industries.
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated manager to oversee and manage all aspects of our Petroleum Terminal infrastructure, associated projects, and maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects while ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and effective communication skills to coordinate with various stakeholders and ensure the successful delivery of Company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets for petroleum terminal projects.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Prepare and manage operations, maintenance, and project budgets, ensuring cost control and effective allocation of resources.
- Oversee procurement processes and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to financial constraints.
- Operations Execution and Monitoring:
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring tasks are completed according to project plans and timelines.
- Track progress and performance, making adjustments as necessary to meet Company goals.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Team Leadership and Communication:
- Lead and mentor project teams, providing guidance, support, and motivation.
- Facilitate effective communication between project team members, stakeholders, and external parties.
- Prepare and present project reports, updates, and presentations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure all terminal activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards for operations.
- Address any issues or discrepancies promptly and effectively.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.
- Manage relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and other relevant parties.
- Address stakeholder concerns and feedback to ensure project satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
- Proven experience (typically 10 years) managing petroleum terminal or related industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of petroleum terminal operations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Working Conditions:
- The role may involve working at project sites, which may include exposure to various environmental conditions.
- Some travel may be required to different project locations.
- Flexibility in work hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
