Technical Director jobs in Wisconsin

Opportunity to lead and manage a team of engineers across four disciplines: applications engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and R&D engineering.

Objective:

• Lead the design development, testing and implementation of cutting-edge custom automated machine solutions.
• Collaborate and work cross-functionally with other departments, including sales, marketing, and operations to deliver best-in-class custom machine solutions.

Responsibiliites Include:

• Coordinate the custom engineering projects, from concept to completion, ensuring they meet customer specifications, budget, and timeline.
• Develop and execute the engineering strategy and vision for the entire organization, aligning it with the business goals and customers' expectations.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers, leveraging past mentorship skills, empathy, empowerment, performance feedback, and mapping career development opportunities.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
• Review and approve the engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and quality.
• Represent the engineering department in external meetings, presentations, and negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners.
• Research and evaluate new technologies, methods, and materials, and implement them into the engineering processes and products.
• Collaborate effectively with other directors, managers, and stakeholders, to proactively communicate progress in the engineering department, and provide updates and solutions on ongoing issues and challenges.
• Execute complete resolution matters - managing & executing engineering projects end-to-end.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, master's degree preferred
• 10 years of engineering experience, with 5 years in a leadership or management role
• 3 years of Engineering management of automation systems and/or robotics
• 3 years of Technical project management experience
• Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex engineering projects in the custom machinery industry
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of technical professionals and engineers
• Demonstrated analytical attention-to-detail, creative problem-solving skills, leading with innovation and strategic forecasting
• Proficient in engineering software (i.e. CAD/CAM/PLCs/HMIs)
• Willingness to travel as needed
