Surgeon performs surgery to prevent and correct injuries, deformities, diseases or improve patient function, appearance or quality of life. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Being a Surgeon determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. May provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. Additionally, Surgeon may provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to a medical director. Requires a license to practice. Surgeon's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Western Maine Surgery, a department of Stephens Memorial Hospital, is currently seeking a BC/BE general surgeon to join their busy and dynamic group of three general surgeons in their hospital-employed practice located in Norway, Maine. This is a unique and interesting position that will provide flexible scheduling and reasonable call expectations in a rural environment. This is a true rural general surgery practice managing wide range of general surgery conditions including endoscopy. The ideal candidate will work as a full time surgeon though part time position will be considered for the right candidate.
This Position Offers- Team-based care model with collaborative approach to care.
- Competitive compensation package including sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, CME expense reimbursement, and malpractice insurance.
- Benefits include Paid Time Off, CME time, retirement options with employer contributions, medical, dental, vision, life/disability coverage, and more.
- W e are a designated National Health Service Corps site which allow primary care physicians to participate in additional competitive loan repayment programs through NHSC. We also are a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PLSF) Program.
