About the role
As the Global Supply Chain and Strategy Director, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and optimising product supply chains throughout their lifecycle, using your expertise to make data-driven recommendations for investment decisions. Your leadership will extend to providing product/brand guidance to senior managers within Operations and representing Operations and product supply on AstraZeneca's Global Product Teams and other senior product partner forums.
This is a pivotal role within GSC&S and Global Operations. You will have overall strategic accountability for establishing and optimizing the design and performance of our supply chains throughout the lifecycle for a portfolio of products in one of our key Therapy Areas to drive excellent customer service, responsiveness and cost.

About the role
You will represent your Supply Chains on the Global Product cross functional Teams, which develop, commercialize and optimize brands across the Oncology and Vaccines & Immunology in AstraZeneca. You will be the key link managing these relationships via a single point of contact.
You will also have a critical interface role to ensuring forecasts are regularly aligned with Oncology & V&I and Marketing Companies, and the impact incorporated into the Product Strategy Plans.
As the Operations brand owners, you will have full accountability for productive collaboration with site and functional representatives deployed around the world on the strategic direction of the brand, which will be translated into current and future supply plans, including recommendation for additional capacity/investment where needed. You will take accountability for the supply chain whilst the brand in clinical development (Phase II/III) all the way through to the end of the life cycle for the brand.
You will work with the sites to optimize your brands’ value chain and specifically the Cost of Goods for your brands. You are also accountable for comprehensive supply risk management across your supply chains, and for creating and deploying robust Business Continuity plans to avoid supply disruption. You and your global matrix team will manage all of the strategic changes (such as establishing new supply nodes or introducing new assets on an existing site) for your brands and ensure launches happen on time.
In this role, you will regularly represent your brands in senior key governance interactions such as reviews at the senior Operations governance forum, Supply Committee or in reviews with the Operations EVP and colleagues. This broad, senior-level visibility will give you the opportunity to continually demonstrate your communication, influencing and partner management skills.
Key accountabilities
Apply your knowledge and expertise to craft, establish and optimize product supply chains throughout the lifecycle for a portfolio of products within a Therapy Area. This may require you to make recommendations for investment decisions, demonstrating your supply chain financial foresight
Provide product/brand leadership to other senior managers within Operations and represent Operations and product supply on AstraZeneca’s Global Product Teams and in other senior product partner forums
Optimize performance of current supply chains including using lean methodologies to improve supply chain lead-time
Have accountability for improving product Cost Of Goods throughout the lifecycle
Work across the Global Supply group to deliver end-to-end Supply Chain operational performance critical metrics and support initiatives to optimize inventory
Own and manage the product business continuity plans for your brands and ensure a constant state of readiness to ensure product supply
Lead and direct a matrixed supply chain team to complete the brand strategy and deliver key supply chain changes
Deliver successful, seamless, timely new product launches to parameters agreed with our Oncology and Biopharma Business Units
Be responsible for multi-region supply issue resolution to successful conclusion, including demand allocation/prioritization
Essential Skills & Capabilities
Specific experience within the Therapy area of Oncology or Vaccines & Immune Therapy is critical
Specific Biologics experience is also critical
Experience working with senior leaders in an organisation
Demonstrated in-depth experience in end-to-end supply chain management, lean supply chains, and data integrity.
Demonstrated proficiency in supply strategy development, influencing, team work, enterprise thinking, relationship management, financial a foresight product costing and case development.
A comprehensive understanding of product development, manufacturing, and supply management and how other functions contribute to achieving the business's supply chain objectives.
Previous experience working in a global complex cross-matrix matrix environment, where you are accountable for part or all of the supply chain.
Understanding global, regional and local environments to identify risks and design robust supply chains that deliver products in the real world.
A detailed understanding of the pharmaceutical or broader healthcare industries, the global context, and how this relates to business opportunities.
Excellent influencing/ communication and presentation skills (written, visual, virtual)
Advanced supply chain (inventory and capacity) planning skills including systems and data
Understanding of different supply methods (e.g. VMI/CMI, Flow, Kanban)
Understanding of supply chain planning parameters, master data and master data integrity & quality
Capable working in long term horizons, projects – setting longer term strategies etc

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $165,000 to $248,000 . Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
