Security Guard - Armed provides security and guards buildings, grounds, materials, work sites, or other venues. Monitors security systems and responds to alarms, reports of issues, or requests for assistance. Being a Security Guard - Armed patrols an assigned location. Follows required gate-keeping procedures such as verifying visitor credentials, conducting inspections, or preparing paperwork. Additionally, Security Guard - Armed may operate an access control or identity system to control building access. Completes shift activity logs and inputs to systems. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically requires Firearms Certification. May require a Security Guard License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Security Guard - Armed works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. ICS Security has immediate part-time weekend openings for security officers in the PG County, MD area. The bulk of our sites include grocery stores, shopping centers, warehouses, communities, and more. We are seeking dependable, hardworking individuals that are ready to take on a new job making their communities feel safer. We offer benefits after a 90 day probationary period, and a 401k with company matching after employees have been with us for one (1) year, and federal holidays receive holiday pay.
While duties may vary from site to site, the most common duties include:
Scan tours throughout the shift
Foot patrol of sites
Standing for the duration of the shift (excludes mobile shifts)
Acting as a deterrent for theft, vandalism, loitering, etc.
Writing daily activity reports
Observing and reporting incidents to supervisors and clients
And most importantly, providing peace of mind to the communities which we serve
Our company is open to those who do not have experience working in security. We have several positions that are great for getting your foot in the door. However, as a bare minimum, we do require the following for armed guards:
Reliable transportation
An active guard card for the state of Maryland - we cannot accept guard cards from other states
A valid state-issued ID (meaning non-expired)
Active (non-expired) wear & carry permit
Your own firearm
Your own vest, grade 3
A level 2 or 3 holster
The below are incredibly helpful and do open up more opportunities for those who have them:
A valid driver's license - we often have mobile shifts, which require a valid (meaning non-expired) driver's license
The majority of our sites require standing for the duration of the shifts and may involve walking up and down stairs, getting in and out of vehicles, or other physically demanding activities.
