      JOB PURPOSE
      To assist the superintendent substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining District operational programs by ensuring that all departments are accountable for making acceptable progress toward operational goals with an emphasis on Athletics, Building and Grounds, Federal Programs, Safety and Security, Student Nutrition, Transportation, and Technology. Will assist in planning, developing and coordinating daily interactions and directing department managers. To assist the superintendent in developing and creating innovative programs for the school district to attract and retain students. Reports to the Superintendent of Schools of Colleton County School District.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
      • Serves in the absence of the superintendent as the chief administrative officer of the district at request of the superintendent.
      • Serves as a member of the Superintendent’s Executive Leadership Council.
      • Attends School Board meetings and prepares such reports for the Board as the superintendent may request.
      • Participates in the development, implementation, and adherence to District-adopted administrative policies; initiates goals, policies, and procedures related to all assigned areas of supervision; prepares drafts of needed Board policies, administrative rules, and status reports for the superintendent’s review and action.
      • Works with local, state and national partners to develop and create innovative programs for the school district that are designed to but not limited to attracting and retaining students.
      • Keeps informed of, interprets, and ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, statutes, rules, and policies affecting the division.
      • Oversees the preparation and administration of facility assessments and long-range planning for renovations and maintenance of educational facilities.
      • Works with the leadership team and others in planning and implementing strategic plans for the future of the District.
      • Provides leadership for department responsibilities of Athletics, Building and Grounds, Federal Programs, Safety and Security, Student Nutrition, Transportation, and Technology.
      • Directs, plans, coordinates and implements district administrative operational activities, ensuring they meet the educational and safety needs of students and staff.
      • Plans and administers an efficient system of training, supervising, and evaluating all personnel employed within the operational division.
      • Projects the operational resource requirements of the District as it relates to school programs and functions.
      • Provides leadership in the development of modern programs for departments within the division.
      • Works with various directors to plan programs, trainings, and professional development for the staff within the division.

      • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the superintendent.
      QUALIFICATIONS
      • Valid SC Teaching Credential
      • Specialist/Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Business Management and/or Superintendent Certification
      • Minimum of 5 years prior successful administrative experience in an educational setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position; central office experience preferred
      • Experience and knowledge in Operational Management preferred
      • Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the District Leadership Team and Superintendent’s Leadership Council
      • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff and the general public, both verbally and in writing
      • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and sustain positive, effective work relationships with staff and the general public
      • Flexibility to work effectively both independently and in teams, with a proven ability to work with various stakeholders to reach consensus
      • Sophisticated organizational skills
      • Proficiency with various forms of technology and various software platforms and Internet database
