    The Role:

    The Director of Talent Recruiting reports directly to the Chief Talent Officer and is responsible for providing innovative, collaborative leadership of the Cambridge Public Schools 3D: Dynamic Diversity Development initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, leading, and growing programs and thoughtfully-aligned strategies that create enhanced synergy between recruitment, hiring, retention, professional development, racial equity and other organizational areas of focus. 

     

    Under the direction of Chief Talent Officer, the Director of Talent Recruiting will: 

    • Be a resourceful and supportive ambassador and ombudsperson for new, potential and current staff members from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and actively work to facilitate and further a deepened sense of organizational inclusion and belonging among all CPS staff members. 
    • Work collaboratively with the HR leadership team and staff to actively plan and implement employment-related programs, activities and initiatives, with a particular focus on those relating to staff diversity and inclusion. 
    • Regularly meet and consult with Principals and department heads to develop and implement specific, clear and comprehensive diversity hiring and retention strategies, plans and timelines directed towards expedited goal attainment. Provide informed follow-up, support and guidance based on research-based best practices. 
    • Work closely and collaboratively with the Office of Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging, school Principals, other school and departmental leaders and the Offices of Professional Development, Planning, Curriculum & Instruction, Welcoming Schools, community partners, etc. to develop and implement a district-wide platform that supports and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and respect within all schools and among all staff members. 
    • Work collaboratively with HR and school leaders to plan, implement and maintain a comprehensive educational recruitment and retention program, with particular focus on opportunities to further staff diversity objectives. Take a lead role in representing CPS at local, regional, and national job fairs and conferences, as well as other recruitment events. 
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive, thoughtfully-aligned, and widely communicated annual schedule of recruitment activities and events. Follow up by actively forging connections between promising candidates and hiring managers. 
    • Be an accessible, visible and effective HR resource to all CPS staff members and to the CPS community at large with regards to staff diversity and inclusion matters. 
    • Provide support, guidance and advocacy for affinity and other groups aimed at furthering diversity and inclusiveness, including groups such as the CEA Educators of Color Coalition.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable federal/state laws, policies, and procedures (e.g. Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, etc.) 
    • Regularly measure and analyze related data, areas of progress and targets for improvement, identifying action steps to drive the attainment of diversity and inclusion goals, and provide for public transparency and data accessibility through the creation and regular updating of online Diversity Dashboards and reports. 
    • Develop, coordinate and conduct related training for administrators and staff, including training for school-based hiring committees, with regards to racial equity in staff hiring, retention, and evaluation.
    • Effectively manage and allocate budget and expenses in accordance with school department and City financial procedures and other requirements. 
    • Participate and/or lead other projects and activities as requested by the Chief Talent Officer and perform other duties as may be assigned.

    Your Skill Set: As the incoming Director of Talent Recruiting you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following skills and experiences:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; at least five (5) years related human resources experience, preferably in an urban public school district or higher education setting. 
    • Experience leading racial equity initiatives in an education-focused social impact organization, public school or school district, or post-secondary institution.
    • Excellent interpersonal, and written and verbal communications and presentation skills. Must be an organized, creative thinker and practical doer, with proven ability to build strong, collaborative and effective professional relationships and achieve results. 
    • Reliability and a strong sense of integrity; ability to maintain positive motivation and momentum even in challenging circumstances. 
    • Self-starter, driven towards achieving measurable results while effectively generating positive engagement and support among groups. 
    • Proven ability to work effectively and flexibly as an individual contributor and collaborative team member. 
    • Bilingual ability preferred but not required. 
    • Proven experience in leveraging technology as a tool in driving and supporting recruitment, retention and communications efforts, including expertise in G-Suite and Microsoft suite applications, previous experience with PeopleSoft, TeachPoint, and/or PeopleAdmin/TalentEd software platforms, as well as effective use of social media applications recruitment tools.

    Salary: $91,354- $110,722 annually

     

    Terms of Employment:

    Full-time, exempt position (12 months/40 hours per week) with evening and weekend work hours sometimes required. Manager’s benefits package, including health and dental insurance and four (4) weeks annual vacation. 

     

    This position includes responsibility for and requires the ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekend events, meetings, and activities, and involves periodic travel.
