May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.     Job Description:

    We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Supervisor to oversee our quality control processes and ensure compliance with food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in food safety, exceptional analytical skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining high-quality standards in our products.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Quality Control Management: Oversee the daily operations of the QC department, ensuring all products meet HQO’s quality and safety standards.
    • Food Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and standards, including FDA, USDA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
    • Inspection and Testing: Supervise the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet quality specifications.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all quality control activities, including test results, inspection reports, and non-conformance records.
    • Training: Train and mentor QC staff on quality control procedures, food safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the QC processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
    • Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, working closely with the production and procurement teams to prevent recurrence.
    • Audit Preparation: Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all quality control practices and records are audit-ready.
    • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on quality control activities, product quality trends, and compliance status to senior management.


    Qualifications:

    • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality control or quality assurance role, preferably within the food industry.
    • SQF Practitioner – preferred 
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
    • Certification: Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, PCQI) is highly desirable.
    • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality control principles.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in quality control software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with organic food products and industry standards.
    • Attributes: Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
