Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     The Department of Chemistry (http://www.umass.edu/chemistry) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty member to develop or continue a vigorous research program in Materials Chemistry; applications are particularly encouraged in the area of Inorganic Materials Chemistry.

    Requirements

    We are seeking talented applicants qualified for Assistant Professor positions. Under exceptional circumstances, highly qualified candidates at other ranks will receive consideration. Women and applicants from other groups underrepresented in Chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a related field with relevant post-doctoral experience is required.

    The successful candidate will join a vibrant, collaborative and interdisciplinary materials science and engineering community at UMass Amherst and will also be a member of the recently initiated interdisciplinary materials science and engineering graduate program (MSE IDGP; https://websites.umass.edu/mseidgp/), which brings together over 60 faculty members from the College of Natural Sciences and College of Engineering.
