Process Engineering Technician provides technical support to engineers to ensure production goals of the organization are met. Provides assistance related to the review of existing and design of new manufacturing equipment, processes, and plants. Being a Process Engineering Technician may suggest or implement equipment purchases, modifications or calibration changes that could result in improved productivity or reduced costs related to production. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Process Engineering Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Responsibilities:
• Spearheads the advancement of Process technology to facilitate the introduction of new products, enhance process efficiency, and drive cost reduction initiatives.
• Explores manufacturing alternatives, assessing internal and external facilities, and devises the process design approach and operational parameters to achieve desired product attributes, cost targets, and manufacturing performance indicators.
• Formulates and delivers a strategic roadmap for new food process equipment technology, collaborating with technical leaders.
• Sets the standard for creating comprehensive technical documentation, encompassing line visualization, process flow diagrams, specifications, gap analyses, design principles, and manufacturing process control plans.
• Advocates and fosters a collaborative cross-functional approach, ensuring seamless coordination among R&D and Manufacturing teams.
• Provides technical expertise and project leadership, ensuring projects adhere to timelines and budgetary constraints.
• Offers guidance and leadership to staff in developing new technologies or enhancing existing ones, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Leads the strategic vendor program, cultivating partnerships and driving joint development initiatives with global vendors.
• Applies advanced statistical methods, experimental designs, and six sigma principles in problem-solving endeavors.
• Oversees the training and development of direct reports, including Process Engineers at various levels.
• Develops, communicates, and manages departmental budgets, goals, and policies, aligning them with business unit strategies.
• May involve up to 30% travel.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Possesses 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in leadership roles.
• Proficient in Process Development Engineering, product development processes, stage gate methodologies, and project management.
• Demonstrates technical expertise across various process platforms, including bakery lines and other food manufacturing techniques.
• Skilled in coaching teams to apply advanced statistical techniques, experimental designs, and six sigma methodologies for problem-solving.
• Capable of developing comprehensive process specifications and flow diagrams with robust technical data.
• Experienced in budget development and management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Minitab, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
