Privacy Director directs and develops the organization's privacy strategy, including policies, procedures, and initiatives. Ensures all business and data management processes reflect privacy requirements and comply with laws and regulations. Being a Privacy Director incorporates regulatory changes into the organization's processes. Plans and directs privacy training programs and communications. Additionally, Privacy Director ensures that compliance monitoring, auditing, and remediation are effective. Leads research and prepares communications in response to privacy-related events or consumer, government, or media inquiries. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Privacy Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Privacy Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations.
    • Stay up-to-date with changes in data privacy legislation and industry best practices.
    • Conduct regular assessments to verify adherence to privacy requirements.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of privacy policies and procedures.
    • Conduct privacy risk assessments.
    • Ensure all business and data management processes reflect privacy requirements and comply with laws and regulations.
    • Plan and implement privacy training programs and communications. Manages compliance monitoring, auditing, and remediation.
    • Compile and drives the approach for end users and application owners to comply with the data retention schedule and to properly delete and destroy data
    • Develop, maintain and drive the data classification and retention strategy and responsibilities
    • Ensure data classification and retention technology decisions, strategy, goals and initiatives are clearly defined and socialized
    • Oversee data classification and retention change and system management process
    • Ensure data classification label configurations align with existing or emergent changes in the legal, regulatory and risk landscape
    • Respond to inquiries from leadership, technology, risk colleagues and/or internal auditors related to regulatory compliance
    • Define metrics, including key risk and performance indicators, based on data risk management use case requirements
    • Identify and assess privacy risks within the organization.
    • Develop risk mitigation strategies and policies.

    Core Competencies:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Legal, Compliance).
    • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent certification preferred.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information.


    Preferences:

    • Understanding of privacy laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
    • Familiarity with data security technologies, encryption, and access controls.


    Pay Range:

    $104,160-$156,240/year

    Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
