    Job Summary:

    Plans, organizes and supervises all aspects of Nursing Services primarily for long-term care Nursing Facility, compliant with Company Policies, State, Federal Laws and Regulations; must be able to develop and sustain the cooperation of others and exhibit a sincere desire to work with elderly; must communicate courteously and respectfully with Employees, Residents and others

    Qualifications:

    RN License in good standing in State of Mississippi; must possess or obtain TB Certification, DNS Certification, QAPI Certification and MDS Certification in first year of accepting position; prefer two years or more experience in Long-Term Care Nursing Supervision; comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices and techniques and their relation to medical practices, skills and application; must have good oral and written communications skills and basic computer skills in Microsoft Office; must pass drug screens and have a satisfactory Criminal History Background Check

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develops Nursing Department objectives; maintains standards of Nursing practice and Nursing Manuals
    • Recommends to Administrator numbers and levels of Nursing Personnel employed; assists with recruitment initiatives, interviews, selection, hiring, evaluations, disciplinary action and discharges
    • Ensures Residents’ needs are met by ensuring completion of Nursing staff schedules and assigning sufficient Nurses and Nurse Aides for each shift
    • Makes periodic visits to all shifts to monitor and evaluate care practices and Resident care; ensures Nurses’ notes are legible, descriptive and thorough for the care rendered
    • Plans, implements, delegates and/or assists with orientation and staff development programs for all Nursing personnel, and Nurse Aides
    • Conducts performance evaluations, recommends counseling and discipline of Nurses and Nurse Aides; ensures Nursing Department Personnel Files are organized and contain current required documentation
    • Ensures verification of Nurses’ Licenses and Nurse Aide Certification; ensures Licenses and Certifications are current – CFR 483.75, F-496
    • Attends Family Council and Resident Council meetings; counsels with families as needed and/or requested
    • Participates in the selection of prospective new admissions; considers their needs and the Facility’s ability to meet those needs; reviews each Admission and assists Attending Physician with Resident Care
    • Ensures a Resident Care Plan is initiated, created, reviewed and modified as needed, in conjunction with all professional services involved in Resident care
    • Participates in implementation of Resident Care Policies; recommends Policy changes when indicated
    • Ensures Resident care delivery systems meet State and Federal Regulations and are consistent with current medical / clinical standards of practice
    • Evaluates Rehabilitation/Restorative Programs and ensures effective care; monitors and/or initiates IV therapy and IV medication as ordered
    • Assists with developing Plan of Correction for Deficiencies from State / Federal Surveys; ensures the Quality Assurance Committee actively monitors the Plan of Correction to ensure compliance as requested by the Administrator, participates in budget process; ensures compliance for Nursing Department
    • Attends workshops to maintain current License and awareness of industry trends / developments
    • Although the usual hours of this position are daytime, Employee may be assigned to any schedule, shift, duties, Holidays, weekends, extra hours and/or at another Facility
