Job Summary :
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day plant operations of Inland’s manufacturing facility. The Production Supervisor manages front line staff and is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the activities on the production floor by carrying out action plans and tracking targets in the area to achieve daily productivity standards in a safe manner, while maintaining required quality standards.
The Production Supervisor is further responsible for working closely with machine and press operators to help determine production flow and procedures to enable the floor to run efficiently and profitable, while maintaining high levels of quality and process control.
The Production Supervisor facilitates continuous improvement projects and plays a key role in driving safety, quality, and productivity initiatives throughout the manufacturing facility.

- Responsible for managing resources and workload to ensure customer demands and deadlines are met
- Maintains a strong level of morale and efficiency within the operations department. Provides guidance and direction to direct reports and assists in overcoming roadblocks.
- Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with Inland’s policies and applicable laws by interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, assisting employees with career advancement, maintaining the employee journal, administering the performance appraisal process, administering the disciplinary process, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.
Responsible for ensuring that company policies are understood and observed in the department. Uses good judgment in enforcing company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
Explains company policies, procedures, and work rules to new employees.
- Builds and leads a team of manufacturing employees and manages and develops individual performance within the team.
- Ensures the optimal use of human, technical, financial, and material resources in achieving company goals
- Identifies and recommends continuous improvement efforts and innovations.
- Demonstrates and encourages safe work practices and expects the same from every team member.
- Collaborates with Customer Service and Scheduling on planning and predicting customer orders to satisfy shipments.
- Participates in daily scheduling meeting to ensure resources, staffing and materials are available for future schedule and production demands.
- Performs responsibilities outlined in Leader Standard Work : Ensures consistency through implementation and sustainment of standard work practices.
Standards are performed and followed and the products of each are correct and complete. Detect, record, evaluate, approve, track, resolve and act upon deviations from approved plans and procedures.
Understand, monitor, and document key components / constraints of facility metrics along with daily production demands. Adjust as necessary to ensure both short- and long-term goals are achieved.
Identify, understand, and communicate roadblocks to safety, quality, and productivity. Delegation of corrective action may be required depending on scale and scope of , and communicate expectations.
Provide frequent performance feedback. Maintain accountability through the progressive discipline system.
- Exhibits strong execution of daily / weekly production schedules.
- Monitors production progress against established deadlines and adjusts production and workforce accordingly.
- Provides Plant Manager with data to maintain departmental metrics.
Essential skills and experience :
- Minimum of 5 years' work experience in a manufacturing setting, including experience managing people, processes, and facilitation of project deliverables.
- Minimum 5 years of flexographic printing experience, including working knowledge of Pressure Sensitive Labels and Shrink Sleeve Production
- Ability to foster strong working relationships with direct reports
- Possesses a can do attitude with a roll-up-the-sleeves and get-the-job done mentality
- Detail-oriented with an ability to manage throughput, prioritize work and minimize production downtime
- Must have thorough understanding and working knowledge to manage throughput, capacity, and productivity
- Strong problem-solving skills

Nonessential skills and experience :
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, Engineering, Manufacturing, Printing and Publishing or a related field
- Prior ERP (enterprise resource planning) system experience
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Work Environment :
Operates in a demanding, fast-paced, people-oriented manufacturing environment with frequent changes and interruptions, and multiple project assignments.
Works with a variety of people including vendors, customers, employees, managers, and executives.
Required Work Schedule :
- Typically works standard business hours
- Ability to work additional hours, when needed
- Flexible to attend meetings or important functions which may occur during off hours, weekends, and holidays to meet organizational initiatives.
- Travel and overnight trips may occur as needed
