About The Team
The launch operations team is a part of the Cape Canaveral launch site. It is primarily responsible for the operational aspects of vehicle integration, payload integration, pad operations, countdown operations, recovery, and reusability. In the last year, the launch operations team was primarily focused on the final integration, checkouts, and execution of flying Terran 1. This includes everything from completing the vehicle's final build to clearing the range of aircraft and vessels for launch to being the key operators in the countdown operation. In the last six months, the team has supported our Stennis team with engine testing development and execution. In parallel, the team works hand in hand with engineering teams on the design and building of critical infrastructure to support Terran R.
About The Role- Responsible for designing, fabricating, operating, and maintaining Terran R's launch pad and support facilities.
- Design launch pad propellant and gas infrastructure, including fluid system design, modeling, pipe stress analysis, fabrication drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams, component lists, and detailed work instructions
- Supervise the construction activation & commissioning and initial operations of these facilities.
- Solve technically challenging problems across a variety of disciplines under varying programmatic pressures.
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field and a minimum of four years of combined engineering experience are required.
- Strong engineering fundamentals in thermal and fluid analyses.
- Working knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated customer service excellence and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to work in high-pressure environments and meet aggressive deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Experience safely operating complex fluid systems, including high-pressure gas, cryogenic fluids, flammable liquids and gases, and hydraulics
- In-depth knowledge of launch vehicle ground support equipment and operations, including cryogenic tanks, pumps, valves, and instrumentation, or related experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with ANSYS and other piping analysis software (Caesar, Bentley Autopipe, etc.)
- Experience Working with DOD, USAF, and NASA personnel
Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government to obtain clearance for on-site work at our government partner location in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
