Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed.     This position features three different starting points, based upon prior experience.

    Junior Network Engineer requires 0-2 years of hands-on experience

    Network Engineer requires 2-5 years of hands-on experience

    Senior Network Engineer requires 5 years of hands-on experience

    Required Qualifications

    • Relocation to the Madison, WI area (reimbursed)
    • Routing protocol knowledge and experience, specifically OSPF and BGP
    • Strong network troubleshooting background
    • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
    • COVID-19 vaccination

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CCNA preferred
    • Supporting multi-tenant infrastructure
    • IPSec VPN or other encryption knowledge and experience
    • Routing technology knowledge of MPLS, IS-IS, Segment Routing
    • Experience developing integrations with network solutions with automation tools (e.g. Ansible)
