Museum Experience Facilitator (PlayWorker) - Part Time
The Westchester Children’s Museum, located in Rye, New York, is a vibrant, interactive learning space. Position Overview:
The Museum Experience Facilitators (PlayWorkers) are an integral part of our floor staff and are responsible, creative, and outgoing individuals. They have experience and interest in working with children. Facilitators assist our visitors as they explore our hands-on exhibits. They are responsible for providing the highest level of customer service and engagement for visitors. Facilitators collaborate with other staff members to create and facilitate meaningful educational experiences. Successful Facilitators perform their duties with enthusiasm, imagination, and a passion for education.
Primary Role and Responsibilities
● Promote the Power of Play by directly engaging with children and families to maximize their learning and enjoyment in the Museum
● Maintain a clean and safe environment
● Manage activities within assigned exhibit space
● Prep materials for exhibits, activities, and Museum workshops
● May be scheduled to host or assist the host at birthday parties-check in guests, work behind the scenes to clean and reset the Museum and party room area
● Support Field trips at the museum
● Assist guests with engagement of Museum exhibits
● Provide assistance to guests by answering general questions concerning Museum offerings, exhibits and scheduled programs
● Work at the front desk, greet guests, answer the phone, check guests in at the point of sale for admissions and encourage the sale of membership
Qualifications:
● Education:
o enrolled in High School, or diploma
o Early childhood and/or elementary program/camp counseling experience, a plus
o Pursuing a degree in Education or Teaching Certification; Education degree, a plus
● Experience:
o Ability to interact positively with children, adults, and large groups
o Ability to work with a diverse group of staff and visitors
o Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations
● Skills:
o Ability and desire to learn new things quickly and to perform repetitive tasks with high degree of care and accuracy

Time Commitment:
● Anticipated hours are approximately 15 to 20 hours per week.
Weekend and Holiday shifts may be required. Preference given to those willing to work at least one weekend day.
● Punctuality and attendance are required for all assigned shifts
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 23 – 29 per week
