SUMMARY: THIS WILL BE A PART-TIME POSITION WORKING 16-20 HOURS A WEEK. THIS IS A WEEKEND POSITION WORKING 8-10 HOURS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
The Morgue Attendant is primary responsible for the overall management of the AnMed Health Morgue under the auspices of the Coroner. The Morgue Attendant provides proactive and extensive solutions to ensure a stable morgue and the preservation of deceased individuals.
The Morgue Attendant will be responsible for handling deceased individuals that fall under the authority of the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and AnMed Health Medical Center. He/she will be responsible for review and completion all necessary documentation and paperwork in coordination with the investigating Coroner/Deputy Coroner and AnMed Health Medical Center.
He/she will be responsible for confirming identification of the deceased individual, accepting remains into the morgue and releasing remains as appropriate.
He/she is responsible for ensuring that the morgue is appropriately supplied with supplies and equipment to perform autopsies and conduct death investigations. He/she may be required to collect blood and/or tissue specimens and photographs on deceased individuals admitted to the morgue.
He/she is also responsible for assisting the Pathologist with various tasks during the autopsy and ensuring that the human remains are prepared for release to the appropriate authority.
He/she will be responsible for assisting Coroner/Deputy Coroner with various aspects of death investigation when requested.
