Meter Maintenance Technician installs, maintains and repairs gas meters. Tests meters to ensure they are in working order. Being a Meter Maintenance Technician inspects area for gas leaks and provides resolutions to customer issues. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Meter Maintenance Technician typically reports to a manager. The Meter Maintenance Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Texas Meter & Device is hiring several full time, electric meter technicians in the El Paso, TX area.
Under the general direction of the Electric Meter Installation Project Manager and/or Field Supervisor(s), the team will consist of technician’s trained on residential and commercial Electric Meters. Training is at $18/hr and usually lasts about 2-3 weeks. Pay is based on production once training is successfully completed.
Technicians can make $20-30/hour or more depending on production levels. There is no cap on production pay!
Candidates must live in the El Paso area as there is not a relocation allowance or per diem associated with this position.
Responsibilities include:
· In some cases, a technician may be asked to work evening hours to manage some commercial exchanges
Shift and Pay Info:
After successful completion of training, technicians can earn $20-$30/hr or more depending on production. There is no cap on production pay!
Monday – Friday, with Saturday work available at times, if necessary
Work hours are usually an 8 hour shift, generally between the hours of 7am – 5pm
There may become a minimal need to work some commercial accounts on an evening or overnight shift.
