May provide guidance or expertise to less experienced specialists. Requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.     Job Summary:

    Under the supervision of the Director, Medical Staff Office, is responsible for the timely credentialing for all Medical Staff and enrollment of all new and existing providers with third-party payors.  Requests and obtains provider data.  Maintains provider information in existing computer software systems.  

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    Education Required Licenses/Certifications: 

    • An associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in hospital or business administration is preferred.  
    • Prior work history may be considered in lieu of degree and/or experience.  
    • Certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is preferred but not required

    Work Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

    • Must have technical aptitude and a willingness to learn software applications used
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
    • MS Office Suite experience, including intermediate level Excel
    • Critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Comprehensive expertise and knowledge of medical staff organization management, including regulatory and accreditation requirements, credentialing, privileging, peer review, etc. 
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required
