Medical Records Transcription Supervisor supervises daily activities of the medical transcription department to optimize productivity. Assigns, schedules and oversees the work of the transcription area of the department. Being a Medical Records Transcription Supervisor ensures that physician's dictations are completed correctly and promptly. May perform transcriptions as needed. Additionally, Medical Records Transcription Supervisor may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. May require Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT). The Medical Records Transcription Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Job Overview
To provide assistance to all areas of Deaconess Health System to maintain, process, correct and retrieve patient information in a timely, professional and compliant manner. Process incoming telephone calls, fax requests, emails and mail promptly, politely and comply appropriately. Ensure fax transmission of all failed faxes, if possible. Assist Transcriptionist with work related issues. Perform light transcription duties as needed. Assist with application testing prior to upgrades. Notifies coders when transcribed reports are available to code unbilled accounts. Communicates with physician offices and physicians regarding dictation issues and assists with chart completion.
Education and Experience
Completion of High School or GED required. Three to six months related clerical/health care experience desired.
