Key Responsibilities and Duties:
· Proofreading and Editing: Meticulously proofread and edit white papers, articles, and all written communication from Nevada Policy ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to organizational standards.
· Website Content Creation: Write compelling content for the website, particularly when white papers are published, to engage our audience and promote our research.
· Publications: Write and edit content for the Nevada Policy annual report and other publications, ensuring they are informative and aligned with our mission.
· Donor Communications: Edit letters and emails to donors, including those accompanying publications and year-end missives, to maintain strong relationships and clear communication.
· Press Releases: Draft press releases that effectively communicate Nevada Policy’s initiatives and achievements to a wider audience.
· Op-Ed Writing: Write op-eds as needed, providing insightful commentary on relevant issues.
· Landing Page Content: Develop engaging content for landing pages to optimize user experience and promote key messages.
· Event-Specific Content: Create content for specific events, such as National Employee Freedom Week and the opt-out period for Nevada educators, to raise awareness and participation.
· Media Relations: Respond to media inquiries, assess Nevada Policy’s ability to provide information, and coordinate responses effectively and coordinate with President or PR team member for interviews and public appearances.
· Reporter Outreach: Proactively reach out to reporters covering topics related to Nevada Policy’s interests, offering our representatives knowledgeable sources.
· Audience Engagement: Write articles that engage and nurture “owned audiences”, fostering a loyal and informed community.
· Brand Voice and Standards: Edit all communication from Nevada Policy, including internal and external materials, to maintain a coherent brand voice and uphold high grammatical standards.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field.
· Proven experience in editorial roles, preferably in policy or non-profit sectors.
· Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio of published work.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
· Familiarity with digital publishing and content management systems.
