Job Summary
The Billing Specialist performs a variety of functions which includes navigating billing software and carrier web sites, accurate data entry of claims, communicating with insurance carriers via phone and fax as needed, read EOB and benefits with understanding in relation to claims submissions, communicate findings to management, and other related functions.
Responsibilities and Duties
Proficiency in the billing claims process
Familiar with navigating billing software programs
Accurately and efficiently enter data and bill claims for professional and institutional services
Effective follow up via payer web portals, phone and other computerized methods
Experience in identifying and submitting corrected claims
Qualifications and Skills
Must be familiar with all aspects of electronic billing for residential detox partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient care, and the code occurring in the substance-abuse field
Out-of-Network Commercial Insurances knowledge
Understanding of Revenue Cycle
Previous medical billing experience along with knowledge of billing related reporting ( CPT, HCPS , ICD 10) required
Certified Medical Biller preferred
Prefered experience in EMR system
Follow up on all outstanding A/R of all payers, self pay and the resolution of denials
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point
Process billing with procedure codes for service , service date ,amount, and diagnostic codes
