Mechanical Engineering Technician assists mechanical engineers in the planning, testing, and maintenance of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Gathers data and project requirements to help prepare proposals, cost estimates, and develop specifications for new parts or prototypes. Being a Mechanical Engineering Technician conducts clerical research tasks and summarizes and reports findings to support research and development of new technologies or processes. Installs, calibrates, tests, and repairs mechanical components and engineering solutions. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Technician fabricates, modifies, and assembles new or existing mechanical components. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Mechanical Engineering Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. One Tech Engineering is searching for a Mechanical Technician for a position located in Neenah, Wisconsin. The Mechanical Technician will draft detailed pipe fabrication drawings for projects within the pipe fabrication department.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a High School diploma and basic knowledge of piping fabrication
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Mechanical Technician Responsibilities:- Use drafting program to prepare fabrication drawings of piping from data submitted by customers and their engineers.
- Create readable drawings for shop to use.
- Calculate dimensions, allowances and technical specification involved in accordance with established practices.
- Compile bills of materials and specification sheets.
- Compose RFI’s to ensure all specifications or drawings are correct and understood.
- Collaborate with designers on new and special work.
- May check drawings as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Basic knowledge of piping fabrication required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
- 1 year of pipe drafting experience is preferred.
- AutoCAD or CAD experience desired.
- SpoolFab software knowledge desired.
- 3-D design visualization desired.
- Mechanical background desired to assist in understanding spool drawings.
