About the Division of Youth Services:
The purpose of the Division of Youth Services (DYS) Communication and Records unit is two-fold. First, the responsibility of the unit is to ensure effective management and organization of statutorily protected records related to youth involved in the juvenile justice system. It Involves handling sensitive information, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, and facilitating effective communication with legal representatives (courts, law enforcement, district attorneys, defense attorneys), youth advocates, treatment providers, and family representatives. Their goal is to support the legal process, rehabilitation, and successful reintegration of young individuals in a manner that respects their privacy, promotes transparency, and enhances community engagement.
The second branch of the unit facilitates communication and marketing channels. Effective communication within the youth corrections system is crucial for coordinating services, collaboration among staff, and information dissemination to relevant stakeholders. The work unit is responsible for facilitating communication channels between various personnel, including client managers, medical staff, counselors, teachers, and administrators. They may utilize communication tools such as email, internal messaging systems, and meetings to ensure an efficient exchange of information. Marketing within the division aims to promote programs, services, and initiatives that benefit the youth involved in the DYS system. The work unit may develop marketing strategies to raise awareness among stakeholders, including the community, families, and potential partners such as legislators. This could involve creating informational materials, establishing an online presence, and engaging with the media. The purpose of marketing is to highlight the positive aspects of the DYS system, showcase success stories, and attract support for rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.
