Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     BENEFITS:

    Requirements

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Service to Library Customers, including a variety of services at information desks and over the phone including basic instruction of library catalog, online databases, and library procedures and policies.

    2. Instruction / Programming / Outreach, including assisting library patrons with computer/technology devices. Assists with library programs, outreach and special events.

    4. Maintains Self-development and Keeps Up-to-date on Library Affairs

    5. Performs Other Duties as Assigned or Requested

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

    Knowledge and current awareness of library policies and procedures, principles,

    materials, and layout.

    Knowledge of alphabetical and Dewey Decimal filing systems.

    Knowledge of Internet resources and basic searching techniques.

    Knowledge of standard safety practices.

    Skill in understanding and applying oral, written, illustrated or demonstrated instructions.

    Skill in observing groupings and identifying misplaced items when shelving materials.

    Ability to access, input, edit, and retrieve information from a computer.

    Ability to operate a variety of library equipment in a safe and effective manner.

    Ability to effectively use all office technology available.

    Ability to investigate and document patron account issues in a timely fashion.

    Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and to transport self to

    other library and community locations.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Ability to remain standing or bending for extended periods of time.

    Ability to maneuver about the library in a timely fashion.

    Ability to bend to floor level or reach a height of 75 inches.

    Ability to read a minimum print size equal to 10-point.

    Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license and to transport self to

    other library locations in a timely fashion.

    Ability to tolerate dust, mold, etc. that may have accumulated on books.

    Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.


    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Subject to many interruptions, performs duties within limited space at a desk.


    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    Education or training associated with the completion of a two-year degree in college, vocational or technical school courses of study related to the area of assignment, or two (2) years' previous library experience or retail customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    SCHEDULE:

    Unpaid meal break of at least ½ hour per shift to be taken for each 5 hours scheduled. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and to be available to work flexible hours to cover unplanned staffing shortages and department vacations.
