Library Assistant jobs in New York

Do you love working with children? Under the supervision of the Head of Youth Services, this year-round position provides exceptional service to children and their families by implementing story times from birth to age 5, elementary school book clubs, and other library programs for children. Applicant may also be asked to help with teen programming. This person will assist in the planning, preparation, and promotion of the programs and outreach efforts. This position primarily takes place in a fast-paced and changing environment. The ideal applicant will be proficient in the use of computers, tablets, mobile devices, applications, and app stores, as well as standard office technology (software, peripherals, and public equipment). This position requires some hours working the Family Center Circulation Desk to assist patrons in finding items, placing holds, and checking out library materials. This position is 20-25 hours a week and includes evening and weekend shifts.

Associate's Degree in early childhood with childcare experience preferred OR High School diploma with 2 years experience working with children in a library, preschool, or similar environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.25 per hour
