    Responsibilities

    • Lead and supervise Help Desk and IT Support teams.
      • Ensure that all team member incoming Help Desk calls and emails are handled properly.
      • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for Help Desk and IT Support teams including procedures for tracking recurring questions and triaging issues based on business impact, password changes, etc.
      • Develop and maintain efficient standards-compliant processes and procedures for onboarding and offboarding of employees, tracking equipment inventory, and tracking user requests from open to completion.
      • Monitor incoming call volume and workloads to assure that the unit is properly staffed to provide excellent customer service.
      • Utilize Confluence and JIRA and direct staff in how to best use the system to manage all work requests.
      • Support career development for all team members by assessing their training needs and providing opportunities for each to excel.
      • Work with team members to establish suitable goals, action plans, and timelines.
      • Effectively communicate organizational changes with clarity and objectivity.
      • Coach team members by explaining, encouraging, planning, and correcting work performance.
      • Assign challenging work to team members based on their skills and availability.
      • Assess future staffing needs and assist in hiring qualified staff based on job applications, resumes, and job interviews.
      • Objectively evaluate team member performance and provide appropriate recognition regularly.
      • Ensure job descriptions are current and match actual duties and expectations.
      • Approve time records and requests for time off following HR and departmental guidelines.
      • Work to establish and maintain a positive work environment.
      • Address performance concerns quickly to help ensure employee growth and improvement following HR guidelines.
    • Assign Workloads and Manage Projects
      • Evaluate new project requests and help desk tickets.
      • Select and assign team members based on project priority, required skills, availability, and current workload.
      • Assign and monitor project target dates.
      • Monitor workloads to ensure adequate timeline for work completion and adjust workloads as necessary.
      • Assist team members in analyzing and solving problems.
    • Participate in cross-functional project teams.
    • Hardware and software installation
      • Oversee and provide consultative support in the assembly, testing & installation of hardware components.
      • Recommend, test & implement new software.
    • Inventory Management and capacity planning.
      • Maintain accurate inventory of servers and peripheral equipment. Ensure that proper maintenance contracts are in place.
      • Monitor performance, storage and network utilization and recommend capacity upgrades as necessary.
      • Ensure change control documentation is maintained.
    • Develop and maintain standards and procedures.
      • Develop documentation/procedures for backup purposes.
      • Monitor the work being performed to ensure procedures and standards are being followed.
    • Ensure that software is maintained at current levels.
    • Keep up to date on new technologies.
    • Handle user calls as assigned by the Help Desk
    Qualifications

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Employees are expected to actively participate in insurance classes, technical coursework or in-house training programs throughout their careers.

    Experience

    • 7 years experience in IT Technical Support.
    • 4 years supervisory experience.
    • 10 years of extensive experience with Windows servers, PC’s, and associated peripherals.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to work and communicate well with people from many disciplines with varying degrees of business and technical experience.
    • Strong leadership skills: ability to provide direction, motivation, and feedback to employees; achieve project objectives through the work of others.
    • Ability to be self-directed and to take initiative in defining and completing project deliverables.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to describe complex, highly technical issues using simple, clear, and precise language.
    • Excellent analytical skills; strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
    • General management skills necessary for planning, organizing and prioritizing workloads.
    • Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
    • Knowledge of computer peripherals used in a windows computer environment.
    • Knowledge of the Insurance industry and/or insurance industry coursework preferred.

    Working Conditions

    • General office environment with occasional travel to branch offices.
    • Up to 10% travel which may include overnight stays.
