Head Teller ensures the daily operational activities of the teller line are executed with accuracy and fulfill required service standards. Processes and records routine transactions, handles complex or unusual customer transactions, and answers more complex customer inquiries. Being a Head Teller depending on policy, may authorize certain transactions. Assists with teller onboarding, training, and guidance. Additionally, Head Teller is responsible for vault oversight and the daily auditing, reporting, and balancing processes. Oversees each teller's daily reconciliation and assists if needed. Ensures that tellers comply with all operating, regulatory, and security policies and procedures. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Head Teller supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Head Teller typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Teller area in addition to all Teller functions. The Head Teller educates tellers on problem solving and customer service-related policies and procedures. Is responsible for daily, monthly, and yearly branch reporting. Required to travel to other branches/bank locations as needed to support business needs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides quality customer service to the public.
2. Directly supervises and coordinates activities of tellers engaged in receiving and paying transactions in the Bank.
3. Provides coaching for tellers.
4. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor.
5. Responds to inquires or requests for information.
6. Assists in creating referrals for the branch.
7. Completes evaluations for direct reports.
8. Issue cashier’s checks.
9. Ensure teller stations are properly stocked.
10. Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
11. Receive checking and savings deposits; verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of deposit.
12. Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation
requirements and complete hold notices.
13. Process savings withdrawals. Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification and
ensure validity and issue receipts.
14. Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories
while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
15. Introduce customers to platform team members for additional services benefiting the customer.
16. Count and roll loose coins.
17. Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts.
18. Adherence to destruction procedures for confidential shred materials.
19. Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded.
20. Responsible for ordering and shipping cash and coin to the FED.
21. Required to travel 10-15% of the time to support staffing needs of company locations/branches, trainings, professional development, or other relevant work-related travel.
22. Conduct oneself in a manner that can be supported by the bank.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains and controls vault cash.
2. Maintain appropriate currency logs.
3. Assist with daily drawer balance.
4. Adheres to all internal policies, procedures, and practices of the Bank.
5. Responsible for internal controls.
6. Responsible for adherence to information security policies.
7. Completes Branch Operation Control Record.
8. Order cash shipments.
9. Identify counterfeit currency.
10. Other duties assigned as necessary.
