Head Golf Professional is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations and services of the golf course, including the golf shop, tournaments, practice facilities, and cart fleet. Ensures golf facilities are properly maintained. Being a Head Golf Professional coordinates marketing programs to promote the facility's services to potential customers and oversees member events and daily play. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Head Golf Professional requires an active Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) membership. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Head Golf Professional manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Golf Professional typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Transylvania University invites applications for the full-time position of Head Women’s Golf Coach. Responsibilities include organizing and directing all aspects of a successful and competitive collegiate program. The recruitment of qualified student-athletes and a demonstrated commitment to their personal, athletic, and academic success are essential. Responsibilities also include supervision of recruiting, travel management, scheduling, player development, budget management, fundraising, rules compliance, and academic monitoring. Secondary duties will include athletic administration/event management. This is a full-time ten-month appointment.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) and a minimum of three years of experience with evidence of a proven coaching record (successful high school or collegiate experience, including student-athlete recruitment and an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations is preferred) and effective communication/organizational skills. Also, candidates should have an athletics philosophy compatible with a Division III liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.
