Salary: $28.39 per hour, ($96,100/average annual compensation)
Work Hours: 24.25 hours on-duty then 48 hours off

an Industrial Battalion Chief (BC) with proven leadership experience in the emergency fire/EMS industry and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment. Job Summary
Under direction of the Assistant Chief, the Battalion Chief, is responsible for overall supervision of all routine and emergency activities during the assigned shift. The BC is the site shift incident commander and may also be responsible for assuming the position of the Operations Officer or other positions in the ICS in response to emergency situations. The BC is responsible for ensuring that all personnel assigned to the shift are trained and certified to meet their assigned tasks. The BC is responsible to ensure that equipment and materials are operational and are tested in accordance with established procedures. The BC will coordinate site emergency and fire protection preparedness activities, pre-emergency plan updating and development, and assist the AC with the developing and providing emergency response training programs.
This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to both, the Company’s and the Client’s Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.
Responsibilities
- Has overall management responsibility for their assigned shift, handling projects and guiding Lieutenants in directing their crews with daily tasks
- Ensures shift is staffed in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensures shift records and reports are completed on a daily basis.
- Conducts shift drills and exercises (company training) on a per shift basis in compliance with the Contractor’s minimum company standards. This is above and beyond the regular site ERT training program.
- Conducts yearly appraisals of shift personnel.
- Provide on-the-job training for shift personnel.
- Administers the maintenance of fire, hazmat, and rescue pre-emergency plans including regular area walkthroughs with shift personnel.
- Provides interface with off-site personnel in response to emergency conditions.
- Prepare and maintains reports and records documenting potential hazards, and the status of equipment and systems.
- Implements the requirements of BASF policies and procedures.
- Ensures work orders are initiated in response to defects and deficiencies.
- Follows established BASF EH&S policies, rules and procedures utilizing personal protective equipment as required. Reports all EH&S problems, violations or concerns to the appropriate individual. Attends basic safety training and other related or required courses.
- In the absence of the CES/SSR and the Security Supervisor, provide support to the on-duty Security staff other than what the SMR is responsible for.
- Conducts other plant support services
- Performs additional duties as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Meets the requirements of a Lieutenant, and;
- NFPA 472, Hazardous Materials Technician
- NFPA 1021, Fire Officer II
- NPFA 1041, Fire Instructor 2
- Alabama Live Fire Instructor In Charge
- On-Scene Incident Commander levels.
- Has Incident Command System training (including NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800).
- Must be able to be qualified by BASF-McIntosh to serve as a site incident commander
- Alabama Emergency Medical Technician or higher EMS certification
- Has current certification in CPR.
