Description
This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and care of the mosaic collection in the Garden.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- General exhibit maintenance of Mosai culture sculptures.
- Plug transplantation.
- Shearing and plant maintenance to achieve aesthetics and design for each sculpture.
- Serve as horticulturist resource for the Garden.
- Assist with building seasonal displays.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
- Must be able to sustain moderate physical exertion with full range of body motion for lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to use ladders and lifts.
- Previous experience working with hand tools and equipment a plus.
- Previous experience working with the public a plus.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Education
Associates Degree in horticulture, botany or related field or two years of hands-on professional gardening experience a plus.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to sustain moderate physical exertion fairly consistently with full range of body motion for lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted and moving large objects (i.e., b&b trees).
- Must be able to operate hand and power garden equipment.
- Must be able to operate a tractor, forklift and chainsaw.
- Physical strength and endurance in heat and cold.
- Must know and use safety procedures.
- Required to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to effectively manage and respond to multiple, changing and often conflicting priorities is essential.
- Must be able to effectively and enthusiastically communicate with the public, and possess basic computer literacy skills
