Editor reviews, edits, and re-writes a variety of documents and/or digital content. Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Overview:
LocalNews1.org is a growing online news outlet with multiple products serving Southeast Franklin County PA and Northeast Washington County, MD. The local news needs a strong presence in the community to keep individuals informed and up to date with the goings on around them. We are seeking a motived and experienced individual to help drive this presence!
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a self-motivated editor to track, edit and produce local community news. Work will range from basic reporting to story publication.
Qualifications:- Candidate must be able to work content manager and reporters to write and edit stories.
- Knowledge of, and consistent application of, AP style required.
- Experience with Wordpress a plus.
- Journalists and skilled writers with editing experience are encouraged to apply.
