Customs Brokerage Import Entry Writer/Import Specialist/Customs Broker

We are located in Jamaica, NY very close to JFK airport on Guy R. Brewer Blvd. Our offices are one block from a major cross street with bus service and street parking is available for cars. Based on our office location, we would expect for the right applicant to live within 40 minutes of our location either by public transportation or by car (this is to both our benefit, long commutes are the worst!)

This is a full time position requiring a very detail oriented person with good client support skills on the phone and via email. Previous office experience is preferred for this position as there will be customers and colleagues relying on your skills within the office. Previous customs brokerage experience is a big plus, but not required for the right person, related freight/cargo industry knowledge is also very helpful. Touch Typing skills required - a typing test will be given and a minimum of 40 WPM is required, higher is generally expected. High school education is mandatory, college a plus, but not required. The right candidate will be able to comfortably work with basic mathematics, units of measure, conversion rates etc. Accuracy is extremely important in this position and so we expect a high level of observation to detail. This position includes customer service, information research & review as well as data entry on electronic government forms. You will need to keep your own files organized and ready for presentation should they require review/audit for customs. We are glad to educate and train the right candidate, but hope it is understood a good core understanding of an office environment, data entry and mathematics is required. A good memory also goes a long way in this industry!
