Cost Estimation Engineer estimates costs for construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other implementation projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements. Collects data and analyzes all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate. Being a Cost Estimation Engineer identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Additionally, Cost Estimation Engineer coordinates with project management, engineering, procurement and other project stakeholders. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cost Estimation Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. • Prepares accurate quotes for new and existing products. • Creates cost models in ERP system and in Excel. • Organizes all sales inputs and quote documentation to ensure files are available for project completion. • Audits estimated cost versus actual cost of completed projects. • Analyzes various pricing scenarios. • Identifies cost reduction opportunities. • Assesses manufacturability and makes recommendations to Sales. • Recognizes tool and fixture requirements and creates estimates accordingly. • Communicates with Sales and Engineering teams to balance quote load and priority. • Provides design-related support as needed.
