Communications Editor Supervisor supervises a staff of editors who write, prepare, and review content to be used in company publications. Helps develop, maintain, and implement editorial policies and standards and ensure conformance. Being a Communications Editor Supervisor oversees and reviews the team's work product. Monitors accuracy and ensures documents and materials follow organizational standards and branding. Additionally, Communications Editor Supervisor manages project tasks and timelines. Manages the coordination of production and distribution activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Communications Editor Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Communications Editor Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



    ● Oversee daily management of shared digest of content of interest to multiple sites.
    ● Upload and share content to FCC websites.
    ● Serve as a liaison for FCC newspapers, websites and broadcast affiliates regarding content and coverage.
    ● Design shared content pages and proofread newspaper pages
    ● Champion accurate, well-crafted news stories for publication on all platforms.
    ● Collaborate with newsrooms and news partners to develop and produce work that serves a dynamic variety of
    community, regional and statewide interests.
    ● Occasionally write content for print, online and TV products.
    ● Mentor writers as needed on enterprise and network content.
    ● Work with newsroom team leaders to edit and organize daily news copy.
    ● Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
    ● Other duties as assigned.


     



    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



    ● Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in journalism, mass communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    ● At least three years of experience contributing to newspaper or magazine editing and/or design.
    ● Experience directing content and coverage, exercising news judgment and general knowledge of journalism
    norms.


     



    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:



    ● Strong planning and communication skills.
    ● Demonstrated news judgment that engages print and online readers.
    ● Knowledge of legal issues affecting published content.
    ● Strong knowledge of AP style.
    ● Keen organizational and time-management skills.


     



    WORKING CONDITIONS:



    ● Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, use hands to fingers, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance
    and stoop.
    ● Required to use close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
