    Visionary Broadband seeks a qualified individual to fulfill the role of Fiber Installation Drops Manager. This full time, salaried position will join the Visionary Broadband team, a division of Visionary Communications, Inc., one of the top service providers in the region. This position will be based out of Gillette Wyoming.

    Job Overview:

    • As the Drops Manager, you will work closely with Visionary’s Fiber Engineering team to manage drops in major markets. This includes, but is not limited to scheduling drop work through dispatch department, daily updates to Visionary management, ordering and forecasting inventory for drop work, scheduling maintenance of drop crew equipment, finding and managing sub-contractors to complete drop work outside Visionary Drop Crew availability, reviewing construction prints, working with property owners to schedule fiber drops to the premise, working with inventory to track arrival dates for materials, managing installation schedules, performing site visits to assure quality of build, and ensuring Visionary standards are maintained through each installation completion.
    • A candidate must have experience with fiber underground and aerial construction and methodologies, including NESC code, local, state, and federal construction code, and best-practices for fiber construction. A strong candidate will bring project experience in both long-haul and fiber to the premise deployments, splicing best practice, aerial deployments, and crew management.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work with a team of experienced technicians to schedule and execute fiber drops to the premise, including reading through prints and ensuring contracted or in-house crews are following them, knowing materials and material locations and ship dates, and ensuring issues during installation are clearly communicated and worked through
    • Create and manage tracking documentation for elements of fiber drops such as inventory, construction, and more, in conjunction with a project management team and within project management software(s)
    • Perform some on-site field work, including measuring, picture taking, pole analysis, and more
    • Strong emphasis on accountability and action-item-follow-through specifically related to the deployment of fiber OSP projects
    • Communicate with Engineering, Fiber Construction and Field Service teams
    • Comply with and respond to federal, state, and local regulations
    • Work with construction/installation/dispatch teams to maximize schedule allotments, including coordination with contracted splicers, aerial construction crews, underground construction crews, Visionary internal Engineering and splicing, and potentially affected customer(s) as necessary to ensure a streamlined and expedited construction process

    Qualifications:

    A qualified candidate must possess the following skills, or have equivalent experience and/or qualifications:

    • 3 years or more of fiber optic construction experience, with an emphasis on underground and aerial placement and methodologies and fiber to the premise installation
    • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to make decisions regarding work, work scopes and daily tasks
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Excellent organizational skills and must be detail oriented.
    • Good knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, as well as ability to quickly learn and work within proprietary computer applications.
    • Flexibility to work outside of standard 8am-5pm hours and be willing to travel to job sites within Visionary territory.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities

    Physical Requirements:

    This position requires sitting to complete work with a computer using a variety of software & GIS applications and telephone.

    50% / - of the time will be spent walking and standing in the field with various weather conditions, as well as occasional lifting and / or carrying and / or pushing / pulling of items less than 50lbs.

    Visual and audio acuity is essential to this position.
