    About the Role

    We are eager to discuss the prospect of you joining our team as our next incredible team member!

    This position reports to the SVP Senior Credit Officer and allows you to partner with other team members and key stakeholders to provide Incredible Customer Experiences of your own! Duties and responsibilities may include:

    • This role is a hands-on manager who can do, as well as, lead. This position is responsible for underwriting home loans while serving as a subject matter expert in all areas of underwriting.
    • Daily processing of home loan applications for refinance and purchase transactions for conventional loans such as Fannie, Freddie, vacant land, HELOC, Home Equity loans, renewals, construction, and government loans such as Rural Development, FHA, VA, and WHEDA.
    • Reviews residential loan application file from Home Lenders to verify that application data is complete and meets establishment standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, and length of employment.
    • Establishes conditions under what criteria we will extend credit to an applicant.
    • Ensures quality in underwriting file, maintains investor standards for compliance to policies and guidelines.
    • Manages the activities of the Home Loan Underwriting team, providing guidance on technical matters and promoting teamwork and cooperation.
    • Motivates and leads a high-performance team for designated areas; to include recruiting, retaining, and developing the team.
    • Will meet routinely with cross-functional departments to actively manage the loan volume pipeline and maintain the proper underwriting staff demands.
    • Understands the Bank's strategic vision and links department performance to the goals of the organization. Aims to expand the Home Lending portfolio and provides input on strategic decisions that affect the functional areas of Home Lending in alignment with the company's strategic and financial targets.

    This is a regular full-time salaried exempt position, averaging approximately 40 hours/week. Schedule may vary between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:30 pm CST Monday through Friday.

    This position is remote eligible. Individuals may choose to work from a designated home office space if desired.

    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years related underwriting experience and/or training, to include a minimum of 7 years of experience underwriting secondary market products; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 3 years of management and/or supervisory experience desired.
    • Prior experience utilizing loan operating systems required.
    • Certification from FHLB, FNMA, State VA, Rural Development and FHLMC. Direct Endorsement (DE) designation and VA LAPP preferred.
