Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist will have administrative and some strategic responsibilities, and will lead or assist with important functions such as, onboarding new employees, HRIS management, answering employee inquiries, compensation and benefits administration and employee relations. Responsibilities:
Administration:
- Maintain employee records and files.
- Manages and communicate changes of personal information, benefits, salary, position; ensures proper documentation is received/signed and information is updated in HRIS.
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development
- Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of HR department and company
- Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements
HRIS Management:
- Maintain HR systems and employee data, ensure hires are entered accurately, and audit system data focused on data integrity.
- Generate reports and analytics from HRIS to support decision-making.
Benefit Administration:
- Administer and manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
- Reconcile benefits statements
- Administer and manage employee leave programs, including FMLA, disability, parental leave, and other types of leave. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, coordinate with employees and managers to track time off, and manage return-to-work procedures.
- Coordinate open enrollment and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Talent Acquisition Support:
- Post job requisitions in ATS and relevant platforms
- Coordinate candidate interviews
- Prepare and create candidate offer letters
- Manage and update open job requisition report
- Maintain and update candidate activity report
Onboarding / Offboarding:
- Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding/offboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in HRIS and complete audits for accuracy and compliance
- Ensure a smooth transition for new employees into the company culture and environment.
Payroll Management & Support:
- Manage payroll processing, in collaboration with Accounting, including biweekly and semimonthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes
- Collaborate with accounting team to resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll inquiries.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field
- 1-2 years’ experience working in an HR department, with some of the below responsibilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Knowledge of HRIS (ADP preferred) and ability to learn new technical systems, when necessary
- Familiarity with Applicant Tracking System (ATS) Greenhouse
- Resourceful mindset and strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of national and state laws and regulations related to employment
- Ability to commute to the Watertown, MA office about once per week
