Clinical Educator is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for clinical health workers. Identifies professional development needs, facilitates training, and conducts in-service sessions. Being a Clinical Educator conducts research to stay current with health care regulations and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Perioperative nurses and surgical technicians are a few of the several staff members who would turn to the Surgical Services Nurse Educator for guidance and educational support. The Surgical Services Nurse Educator will work alongside the Manager of Education and Professional Development and the Director of Perioperative Services to coordinate and influence the direction of the Surgical Services department ensuring the highest standard of patient care.

The Educator will work closely with the Nursing Leadership team to develop and deploy the education program, and will work to improve the program through feedback and partnership with the Surgeons and Professional Development teams.

    The Surgical Services Nurse Educator oversees the development of educational programs focused on enhancing clinical competencies and skills, mentors perioperative staff, and drives clinical quality improvement initiatives. On the administrative side, they manage budgeting for educational programs, coordinate staffing needs, oversee operations related to education, and maintain positive relations with physicians involved in perioperative care.
