Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Become a member of a health care team that works in a medically directed model with other anesthesia providers in a collaborative and collegial manner to deliver high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and pain care services!

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide appropriate advanced perioperative anesthesia services for patients (ages 17 and over) at all acuity levels in a variety of settings at our hospital in Lake County including:
    • Surgical procedures (open, robotic & laparoscopic) including neurosurgery, ENT, thoracic surgery, abdominal surgery, orthopedics, and plastic and reconstructive surgery
    • Diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional testing/procedures to include gastroenterology, pulmonology, interventional radiology, interventional pain management, radiation oncology, CT and MRI scans.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor
    • Certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
    • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state
    • Demonstrated current competency in the clinical responsibilities specified
    • Active state licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Illinois and compliant with any applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning CRNAs
    • Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for patient documentation, orders, monitoring
    • Current ACLS
    • Current BLS

    Hourly rate range: $100 - $175 The range listed is exclusively for base compensation for Per Diem & Part-time employment and does not include benefits.
