Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     SUMMARY
     
    The Director- Chief Anesthetist supervise, administer and manages Grady Health System OR Anesthesia, PAT Clinic, and Camp Creek Anesthesia Service. Responsible and accountable for administrative, to include budget and personnel management, organizational, clinical, operational and educational leadership. Provides 24/7 leadership and management in the areas of customer satisfaction, provision of safe and effective care, finance, human resources, communication, performance improvement/quality, and professional development. Responsible for establishing, enforcing, and evaluating structures, processes and outcome standards, policies/procedures, and services for the department.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Masters Degree in Anesthesia 
    • Experience of administration of commonly accepted techniques of general and regional anesthesia for at least a period of five (5) years.
    • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable and competent in all agents and techniques of current anesthetic, and an acceptable working knowledge of the policies and practices of the department and hospital.
    • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
    • Registered Nurse in State of Georgia
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
