THE OPPORTUNITY
With an exceptional leadership team in place along with a strong vision for the future, it is an exciting time to join MAI. Reporting to the President, this is a unique opportunity for a talented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to leverage leadership skills and financial knowledge to significantly impact MAI’s continued growth trajectory. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the firm and driving the financial strategy.
The CFO will manage overall financial operations including accounting, financial planning & analysis, business finance, and client accounting/treasury. In addition, the CFO will lead the monthly close process, annual audit and budgeting processes, prepare customary financial and ad hoc reports for MAI and its parent company. In addition, the CFO will analyze data, and develop strategic financial plans in alignment with the firm’s business goals.
The CFO will also identify and mitigate potential financial and business risks, ensure compliance with regulations, and stay up to date on industry trends. As a critical member of the senior management team, the CFO will provide valuable financial insights and guidance to help drive the organization’s success and promote the firm’s overall strategy.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the firm's goals and objectives.
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, business finance, financial planning and analysis and client accounting.
- Act as the primary financial liaison with MAI’s parent company which includes the production of monthly Board financial packages and presentation of financial results to MAI’s parent company and private equity investors; income statement and cashflow forecasting, and the annual financial audit process.
- Provide strategic leadership to galvanize the Finance team to simplify, innovate, and lead to take the team to the next level.
- Lead the development of quarterly Board decks and monthly financial Board and executive reporting packages.
- Manage MAI’s cash position including regular cash reconciliations and cashflow forecasting.
- Ensure sound controls and governance around accounting and financial reporting processes.
- Partner with internal MAI teams to further develop data warehouse and utilize data to forecast financial metrics and trends.
- Manage financial risks and ensure the organization's financial stability.
- Develop and maintain relationships with banks, investors, and other financial stakeholders.
- Provide executive leadership with timely and accurate financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Build trusting and mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- Lead the financial planning process (FP&A) and collaborate with other departments to develop strategic plans.
- Collaborate with the executive leaders to make critical business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and laws.
- Stay current with industry trends and developments to improve financial processes and systems continuously.
- Manage and motivate the finance team to achieve their goals and deliver high-quality work.
EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Master's degree in business administration (MBA) preferred.
- At least ten years of experience in financial management with proven track record as a successful senior leader in the financial services industry.
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a similar senior leadership finance position.
- Significant experience in core financial concepts – including accounting, cash management, profitability analysis, revenue recognition, financial modeling, treasury, and forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of partnership accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in risk management techniques and strategies.
- Advanced financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
- Expertise in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
- Demonstrated strategic planning capabilities.
