New Age Chemical is a manufacturer of industrial chemicals. We manufacture a variety of products used in most manufacturing operations, such as coolants, cleaners, rust inhibitors, and lubricants. New Age is experiencing tremendous growth and so we are looking to expand our laboratory staff by adding an experienced chemist to our team. Position Summary

This role will support technical, manufacturing, and commercial activities. Day to day duties will consist of quality control assignments, routine testing, new product development, and raw material testing.

Job Duties

• Working with the department management learning to formulate new products.
• Design, develop, and implement specified tests and determinations in order to answer quality questions and address problems of customers.
• Provide technical service and knowledge to customers and sales associates. Participation in some field work trouble shooting, which may include site visits to customers.
• Help perform competitor analysis on a variety of products as requested.
• Help executing routine analysis.
• Ensure that all equipment and machines in your area of control are managed with regards to safety, maintenance, calibration, and availability.
• Perform project work in cooperation with a variety of internal and external contacts.
• Design, develop, and implement specified tests and determinations, in order to answer questions and address problems of customers. Develop and perform customer requested product analysis and testing.
• Use, assess, and work to continuously to improve the organizational quality processes.
• Assist the company with ISO compliance.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Work in a laboratory and administrative office setting, with some local travel as required.
• Ensure a safety mindset throughout designated area of responsibility.
• Involvement with industry professional organizations, such as STLE.
• While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The associate must be able to safely work in a variety of potentially hazardous situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to carefully, and precisely manipulate samples, apparatus, and sensitive instruments. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, or no more than local or country regulations allow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Educational Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science/ Engineering, or comparable scientific technical field.

Experience, Skills and Competencies

• Expertise in broad ranges of metalworking, lubricant, emulsion, and cleaner chemistries a plus.
• Ability to work and thrive in cross-functional environment.
• Ability to work on a multitude of projects simultaneously and remain organized.
• Ability to write reports based on analysis and communicate findings.
• Knowledge of GHS and other regulatory requirements in chemical industry a plus.
• Agility to respond to emerging business needs - strong change of management skills.
• Experience in product testing and basic research.
• Broad and deep understanding of the metalworking market a plus, including the following:

Current suppliers, lubricant customers, and end-users

Superior knowledge of industry test methods and their significance

Understanding of competitive capabilities

Schedule - Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Summer Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Half day Fridays 8 a.m. to noon

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,107.05 - $56,731.07 per year
