We are seeking a dynamic Catering Manager to oversee our catering operations, lead our catering team, and successfully ensure the delivery of memorable experiences for our clients.
Position Summary:
The Catering Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all catering operations. This includes managing event logistics, leading staff, and ensuring client satisfaction. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail and a willingness to do what is needed to make an event run smoothly. The ideal candidate is a doer who takes initiative and ensures things get done.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, confirming key event details.
- Hold responsibility for event preparation including pull sheets, supply inventory, and organization.
- Personally attend and lead events, ensuring smooth execution and client satisfaction.
Team Management:
- Train and develop catering team members, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Create and approve staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all events.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that aligns with company values.
Operational Oversight:
- Monitor labor hours and event costs to ensure profitability.
- Identify opportunities for process and cost improvements.
- Document post-event notes, including team performance and client feedback.
Client and Venue Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, venues, and event planners.
- Represent Pinguino’s Gelato at tastings and networking events.
Preparing for Future Growth:
- Identify potential team leads for future promotion or increased responsibilities.
- Develop standard operating procedures to streamline training and delegation.
Work Schedule:
- Summer Event Season: Workdays will typically be Wednesday through Saturday. Occasionally, Tuesday evenings may be needed for promotional activities. The summer season is mid-April through September.
- Work hours will be afternoon through late evening on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Work hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays can be flexible depending on event needs.
- Variable hours are required during peak times, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Non-Summer Season: Workdays will typically be Monday-through-Friday. Occasionally, Saturday evenings may be needed for events with corresponding comp time given during the week when Saturday time is needed.
- Work hours will be flexible afternoon through early evening.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in project or event management; food service experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and leadership abilities.
- Clean driving record and willingness to drive company vans.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve problems effectively.
- Physical ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
Pay & Benefits:
- Pay: $17–$26/hour ($39,520–$52,000 annually), based on experience and qualifications.
