The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa is seeking Research Coordinator To coordinate research activities and projects related to the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) within the Biospecimen Procurement and Molecular Epidemiology Resource (BioMER) at the University of Iowa’s Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (HCCC). This includes coordinating patient specimen and data workflows related to ORIEN and to the Patients Enhancing Research Collaborations at Holden (PERCH), HCCC’s comprehensive biorepository enrollment program which recruits patients for ORIEN participation. This position is responsible for working with the other members of the ORIEN team including the ORIEN Program Managers, ORIEN biostatistician, ORIEN data abstraction team, and ORIEN specimen procurement team to coordinate consent of patients, collection and processing of biospecimens and corresponding clinical data, development and maintenance of project regulatory needs, and attendance at various ORIEN-related team meetings. This position will work closely with the Clinical Research Services and Biospecimen Procurement teams, and will collaborate with physicians and researchers in the development of workflows relevant to ORIEN and in the conduct of ORIEN intermember projects.

Administrative supervision is received from the Research Operations Technical Director. Functional supervision shared with ORIEN Program Managers and Principal Investigator.

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. 1-3 years of experience in the conduct of social science/behavioral/medical research, clinical programming, or translational laboratory research.
3. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Ability to manage complex information with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
5. Knowledge of computer-based programs and databases.
Desirable Qualifications
1. Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and procedures associated with human subject research.
2. Relevant experience in oncology research or related management of information and data.
3. Experience with procurement of human tissues and specimens and data.
4. Experience with clinical research applications such OnCore, REDCap or Labmatrix.
5. Experience with medical terminology.
