CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. - Taking existing 2D drawings of existing system equipment and updating them for new or replacement equipment
- 2 year technical degree or equivalent CAD, or other related certification (minimum)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience and experience with drafting one line diagrams, project diagrams, and/or project sketches for transmission facilities .
- Required to have experience working directly with computer aided drafting of transmission facilities/assets
- 4-5 years experience with MicroStation required
- 5 years minimum Auto CAD experience
- Utility experience.
- CAD experience/gas distribution
- One line Diagrams / Transmission and submissions experience 4-5 years minimum
- Required to have experience preparing engineering drawings at a power facility or comparable facility.
- Required to have demonstrated proficiency using CAD software or other design software.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
