Business Intelligence Director directs a business intelligence group centered on providing insight and aiding in business decision-making. Oversees the planning of projects to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions. Being a Business Intelligence Director collaborates with other departments to identify and generate potential business intelligence initiatives, and ensures that business intelligence analysts have the tools, training, and understanding of the field to produce effective dashboards, reports, and metrics. Makes resource allocation and staffing decisions. Additionally, Business Intelligence Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Intelligence Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Business Intelligence Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     About the Position


    The OHSU Foundation is heavily dependent on the information systems which support the fundraising priorities of the institution. The Assistant Director of Business Intelligence serves as one of a team of experts in the methods used to define, report on and otherwise develop new structures and processes for business intelligence. The position works closely with all departments to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make strategic business decisions, plays an essential role in the growth and continuous improvement of the reporting environment, and supports key process change and/or system related projects.

    What You’ll Be Doing


    • Create Detailed Extractions:
      Develop new reports for data modeling, analysis, communication, cultivation, research, and solicitation purposes
    • Maintain Self-Service Report Environment: Develop, validate, test and maintain stored procedures, dashboards, and reports for a self-service reporting environment for functional users; serve as analyst and developer of report and dashboard design, utilizing SQL, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, Visual Studio, Tableau and the Foundation’s Data Warehouse environment
    • Maintain Affinaquest Reporting Environment: Develop reports, visualizations and dashboards in the Affinaquest/Salesforce environment, extract, analyze and report data using Affinaquest's reporting tools, and troubleshoot errors or inconsistencies in Affinaquest reports
    • Special Projects: Undertake special projects related to ongoing campaign initiatives and Foundation operations as assigned
    • Customer Service: Respond to time-sensitive requests and build and and ensure high customer service levels with both internal and external partners

    Who You Are


    • Technical Skills.
      Advanced knowledge of donor CRM systems and business intelligence tools such as SQL, SSRS and Tableau. Experience with report and dashboard development utilizing Salesforce/Affinaquest Reports and Apsona. Ability to read, write and maintain SQL code T-SQL coding and tuning. Knowledge of data warehousing architecture and dimensional modeling concepts
    • Project Management Skills. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize projects, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail
    • Communication Skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel. Compassionate and culturally responsive; skilled at engaging with a wide range of individuals in various settings.
    Experience


    Required Experience:

    • 5 years’ experience in database management, data analysis, and report and dashboard development
    • 5 years’ experience developing visualizations, dashboards, stories and reports using Tableau and SSRS
    • Experience using Transact SQL to develop stored procedures
    • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements
    • Experience creating technical documentation of reports and data/report models
    • Familiarity with report execution and database interaction

    Preferred Experience:

    • Prior programming experience

    Working Conditions:

    • Prolonged use of computer

    Pay


    Salary is dependent on experience. Each salary band is broken into three "steps," which correspond with an employee’s experience/tenure, proficiency and performance in that specific role. New employees will typically start at step I of our pay band to allow for later growth, although more experienced candidates may be eligible to start at step II or III. The OHSU Foundation has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
